History
Vitamin D Workshop History
The Vitamin D Workshops began in 1973 as a small gathering of approximately 60 nephrologists and vitamin D basic researchers in Frankfurt, West Germany. By the time of the Thirteenth Workshop, held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in April 2006, attendance had reached approximately 334 delegates, with 230 poster presentations and more than 70 speakers. The vitamin D-related topics covered ranged from basic chemistry through molecular biology into immunology, with a strong clinical contingent of researchers studying bone and skin diseases, cancer and nutrition.
